I hate my haircut.

I got my hair cut yesterday, and I hate it.  I asked for 3 inches off, and my hair was down to the middle of my back when it was dry and curly yesterday morning.  Now it’s barely 3 inches past my shoulder.

I specifically told her that I didn’t want layers in the front – anywhere in front of my ears.  She INSISTED that a little layers were needed.  I told her my hair does this stupid stair step thing and the layers don’t blend because of my curls, but she “knew” what she was doing.  Bull.  She cut it and it’s doing exactly what I knew it would.

I asked her for long layers, and she put in more than long layers, in my opinion.  My hair is more layers than I’ve had it in YEARS, and I don’t like it at all.  Plus she made the front about 2 inches shorter than the back, which might look good on people with straight hair, but again, I don’t, and never have, had straight hair.

So should I go in there and show her my hair now, so she can see what I’m talking about?  Or should I just let it slide?  Either way, I’m quite pissed about the whole ordeal.  I wrote my friend Rachel, who usually does my hair, a huge long rant email and she said that you always listen to what the customer wants.  This 18 year old girl that cut my hair apparently hasn’t learned that yet.  Grrr…  I am not happy.

Monica, you look beautiful. You do.

That being said, I'm sorry you're bummed about your haircut. I doubt it's her age more than her (lack of) experience with curly hair. My sister-in-law has really curly hair and finally found a stylist she liked when she went to someone who specialized in curly hair.

Maybe you can find some who has a lot of experience with curly hair to "fix" it? (though, unless you told me you weren't happy with it, I wouldn't have known anything was "wrong" with it!)

I'm stopping in from the MilSpouse Roundup. I'm following now too.

I know it won't mean much coming from me, but I think that your hair looks good in these photos.

But I can totally relate. I have curly hair and run into so many of these issues when I go to get my hair cut, which is why I don't go often.
I think I've finally figured out what I need to tell them to get the cut I want.
And I don't know about you, but they always insist on straightening my hair at the end and that means we never know what it really looks like until the next day.

I'm right there with you in the curly hair and sometimes annoyed at the stylist club!

Don't kill me for saying so, but in the front view pic, i like it!! That being said though, YOU are the one that has to be happy with it, and she should have made her recomendations, but done what u wanted in the end. Good luck!

I think your hair looks cute!

I totally understand though. Even though I have straight hair I have had some pretty awful haircuts.

Oh man, that sucks. The last haircut I got in Savannah was the first one I've gotten since we moved that didn't turn my hair into a mullet, so I totally understand. Unfortunately I never have the guts to go back, I guess part of me is always afraid they'll just make it worse.

I think you look fine! That said, also as someone who deals with curly hair, it is the matter of finding someone who actually knows how to cut curly hair. I need to go get a trim but have been putting it off because I have to find that special someone (who is affordable!).

I really don't see anything wrong with the haircut, myself, but if it's not what you wanted, then it's not right! I have actually heard a LOT of horror stories about the salon on base and didn't get my hair cut ONCE in the 3 years we were there (except for when we went back Stateside to visit)! I hope you find a way to style it to your liking and that it grows back quickly!

Your hair looks pretty but I feel your pain. I hate my hair so much right now I can't even look at myself. She butchered it beyond belief and I went to have someone "fix" it. Now I have "helmet straps" in the front and all uneven and choppy and cut above my ears. I'm thinking of chopping it all off but then i'll just have to get it to this phase again. :(

Can I rant for a second? It took me a YEAR at our current duty station to find someone who can cut curly hair. I've had the poof cut, the triangle/Christmas tree cut, all terrible! I finally found a stylist with curly hair who knew how to cut it well. Keep trying, better luck next time.
