My Wish List

Let me preface this by saying, I know I’m not getting any of these for Christmas this year, but it’s fun to think about anyway.  Mark and I have agreed to not exchange gifts due to the fact that we want to buy a house and a bunch of new furniture next year, so we’re not going get anything for each other now.  And most of these are things that are way too expensive for anyone else to get me, hence the reason I know I’m not getting any of them.  But I thought it would be fun to do this every year to see what’s changed and what hasn’t.

1.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Standard Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

This is the 24-70mm F2.8L series lens by Canon.  My dream lens.  It is $2075 right now on Amazon.  It is a top of the line lens, and one of 3 that I want.  Which brings me to #2.

2.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

This is the 70-200mm F2.8L USM lens by Canon.  My other dream lens.  This lens will come in handy when the kids are older and into sports.  It is $1300 on Amazon right now.  But I would like to have the 24-70 and the 70-200 some day.  Along with my #3.

3.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

So I have the 50mm f1.8, and honestly I haven’t been that happy with it.  It is noisy, super slow with focusing and the more I learn about photography, the more I don’t like this lens because it’s not doing what I want it to do.  This is the 50mm f1.4.  It’s a (big) step up from the f1.8 and I would like to try it out.  It’s $300 on Amazon – much more in my price range, but also last on my lens list since it’s not an L series lens and the 24-70mm would cover what this lens does to an extent.

4.

I’ve given a few of these away as gifts and I SOO want one for myself.  It’s the Le Creuset 7 1/4 Quart French oven ($300).  I love to cook, and I think I would use this quite a bit.  And I love the blue color.

5.

Epiphanie GINGER - Slate BlueKelly Moore Libby Bag - Sapphire-Dark Blue

One of these two camera bags.  The one on the right is Kelly Moore’s Libby bag ($249) and the one on the left is Epiphanie’s Ginger bag ($165).  If you’re into photography at all, you have heard of these bags because EVERYONE talks about them and how wonderful they are.  I like that they can be used as more than just a camera bag (camera bag + diaper bag + purse), but they are designed to keep your camera and lenses safe and protected.  Love them.

6.

My current blender sucks.  It barely blends ice cream to make a milk shake without me having to help it mix stuff up.  When we get back to the States (and I actually have counter space to use a blender, not to mention not have to use it with a transformer), I would like to start eating smoothies more.  They seem healthy and good depending on what you put in them, and it’s easy to get your daily doses of fruits and veggies with it.  I like this one because it’s a bit cheaper ($400) than the Vitamix’s but still seems to be a decent blender.  And I know my kiddos would love smoothies also, and since we’re moving to AZ, what better place to cool off with a nice smoothie by the pool??  Yes, I want one of these.

7.

I love these necklaces.  I would probably wear it 3 times a year (or maybe less since Ben would for sure try to rip this off as soon as he laid eyes on it), but I think it’s pretty and I like this style.  I tend to wear more crew neck necklines, and I think this would jazz them up some.  I love this color, but they have a bunch of colors of this style necklace that I like.  ($9.90 on Amazon)

8.

I have decided when we move, I am getting rid of 90% of my plastic tupperware type containers.  They’re impossible to keep track of the lids and the container, plus I have so many of them, it’s easy to just keep putting more and more in the fridge to the point where I forget what I have in there.  So I’m moving to glass.  I’m going to get a few nicer plastic containers for Mark to take his lunch in, but for home, I’m switching to these.  ($18 on Amazon)

9.

I have lots of measuring cups, but they’re all the plastic kind and the amount has rubbed off on most of them, so I had to try to scratch 1/4 and 1/3 and 1/2 into the handle using a knife.  Fancy huh?  So I would like these because the amount won’t wear off of the handles over time.  ($12.00 on Amazon)

10.

This is an embroidery machine.  I would love to have an embroidery machine.  It just seems like fun.  My current sewing machine, which I also love, doesn’t do any embroidery (letters anyway) and that’s really what I want to do.  It seems like it would be lots of fun making personalized baby gifts for all of my friends having babies, and to put dedications on the quilts I make with this thing.  It’s supposed to be  $900, but it’s $320 right now on Amazon.  Maybe someday when I have my sewing room all set up, I’ll get one of these, but by that time, I’m sure most of my friends will be done having babies and my own kids won’t have much use for embroidered things.  I might have to try to talk Mark into getting this one sooner.  Or find a decent used one.  We’ll see.

Obviously photography is my biggest hobby right now, although I have been sewing some lately too when I find the time.  I’m excited to move to a normal sized house so I actually like cooking again, not to mention have a dishwasher so I don’t have to spend at least a half hour a day washing dishes by hand along with counter space.  It’s really hard to cook with no counter space.  Mark and I always joke and say, you know, we have way too much counter space.  I think we should downsize…  It’s funny, but not really…  Three more months!!  What’s on your wish list??

the 70-200 2.8 is on my wishlist too. I also have the 50mm 1.8 and I love it, and to get past the slow autofocus, I found that if I hold the shutter down halfway and focus, it will beep when the photo is in in focus.

I love my Epiphanie bag as well. I actually got it for $35 in excellent condition off Ebay, I have Lola in black. It's huge and I've used it more as a diaper bag/purse than a camera bag!

I'm pretty much going to add all of this on my wishlist now too! I need some lenses, right after I get an iPad and an espresso machine. And a giant bag of $100 bills!
