The bend in the road

There is a bend in the mountain highway close to our house, with a natural spring on one side of it.  I’ve been wanting to check it out and take pictures ever since we got here, and we finally did! IMG_6595

I’m not 100% sure where this water is coming from, but I’m sure it’s coming from under the mountain.  The road is directly to the right of this picture and the water just comes from under the road somewhere. IMG_6600

There’s a pretty decent current to this water too, and if you look closely in the water you can see it bubbling up from by the walls. IMG_6714

Mark and Ryan.

This was some weird house with no roof.  It had a well type thing in the 2nd room (not pictured) and I’m not sure what the purpose of it is.  If I hadn’t been with Mark, I would have been completely freaked out because the place was just eerie.

Me and the pips.

There was a trail that went along this stream/river for quite a ways while we followed.  We made a big loop back to the car.

The boys checking out the water.  The more blue the water is, the deeper it is.

See?  The water just appears out of nowhere.  I would love to see the underground spring system of this area.  This place is only a mile or two from the Gorgazzo Spring.

Isn’t the water pretty?  You couldn’t pay me to swim in it, but it’s really pretty.

The trail next to the water.

It was about 8pm and the water was getting this mist over it since the air was cooling off.  Spooky, but neat.

So many different shades of green!

Even spookier in black and white.

A few random bridge pictures.

This was a little shrine and there was a spring under it.  You can barely see the water right by the pillar.  There was a tiny trickle of water coming out from under this thing.

Apparently they’ve found quite a few artifacts from the late 1800’s in this area.  Italy sure is beautiful.
