Friday Fill-in

  1. During military separations (whether short or long) how do you keep yourself positive and motivated? submitted by Married/Single Parent  When I start feeling down in the dumps, I try to remind myself of all the good in my life.  Even just little things like the sun is shining or hearing my child’s laughter.  Sometimes it takes a lot more effort than others, and staying positive didn’t come naturally to me.  I had to learn how to deal with emotions that came with separations.
  2. What is your favorite concert you have ever been to? submitted by Young but Not (Completely) Dumb  Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood!  They put on a great show!
  3. What do you miss most about your “hometown”?  submitted by A Florida Girl and Her Soldier  Having my family and friends close by.  All the good restaurants.  The familiarity of it.  Being able to read and understand all of the signs.
  4. If you could run in any race, which charity would you choose to support? submitted by Wookie & Co.  One that didn’t involve running…  I hate running.  It come be a horse race though.  That would be fun.  And it would be a charity that helped abuse children or animals.
  5. You find out Willy Wonka is your father, what 3 course meal do you INSIST he create in that stick of gum?  submitted by A{muse}ing Mommy on a Pink Park Bench  Having any meal flavored gum sounds absolutely disgusting to me, but to play along – salad and breadsticks from Olive Garden, followed by some cheesy/garlicy pasta, followed by chocolate chip cookies.  My favorite!

People who have never left their hometown have no idea how good it feels to be comfortable/familiar with a place. To know where to go without thinking about it, to not get lost, etc. I love that when I go home.

I think you learn a little bit more about coping with each deployment. I'm not saying it gets easier, just easier to adjust...if that makes sense!
