My parents are here

My parents got here last Wednesday.  We drove to Milan to pick them up.  Luckily Mark got off work for the morning so he could go with me.  They were supposed to arrive in Milan at 8:10am, and we left home at 4:30am (and once Abbie was up, she didn’t go back to sleep….) to go get them.  Milan is supposedly 3 hours away, which apparently is when there is no traffic.  4.5 hours later, 20 Euros in tolls and 3 trips around the stupid airport, we finally met up with my parents.  Note to self:  Do NOT tell people to fly in to Milan.  WAAAYYY too much hassle.  If you come to visit, fly into Venice.

We’ve been site seeing a ton since they’ve been here and I’ll do separate posts for all the places we’ve visited so far, mainly because I just downloaded 900+ pictures onto my camera, and that was only my DSLR…  That doesn’t include the pictures taken on my point and shoot.

Here are a few pictures from our trip to Caneva to get gelato. IMG_0973 IMG_0978

Abbie happens to love gelato and as soon as she sees it she’s signing “more” “eat” and “please” as fast as her little hands will go.  My parents get a kick out of it.IMG_0985

And when the gelato is gone, toes are second best.  (By the way, that’s her new Maclaren stroller.  I don’t even know why I bother trying to keep the thing clean.  She had gelato all over the place…)IMG_0994

Here was our scenery when we got gelato. IMG_1005

We’ve been having pretty big storms here lately, which is fine when I’m not alone.  But Mark leaves Friday for 2 weeks and my parents leave Monday, so soon I’ll be alone.  I’m not a big fan of storms when I’m by myself, with Abbie, especially since usually our power goes out for hours at a time and that really sucks.  You can’t really tell in this picture, but the rain was coming down sideways.IMG_8592

The grapes are growing!!! IMG_8536

I have no clue what this is, but I thought it was beautiful so I took a picture.  I might start a facebook album of all my flower pictures.  Flowers are MUCH more abundant here than they are in the States.  I love it!  My mom just helped me plant 2 bougainvillea's and a wisteria along my fence so I can’t wait to see how they grow.  I hope they cover the whole thing before we leave here.  I’ll take pictures of those soon.
